Tickets are now on sale for David Sancious at The Vogel in Red Bank on January 6 as co-presented by the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music at Monmouth University in West Long Branch. On drums will be Will Calhoun of Living Colour.
David Sancious played a jazz-inflected soulful organ and piano in the original lineup of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. They used to practice at David’s mom’s house on, yes, E Street in Belmar. He can be heard on Bruce’s first three albums—1973’s Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. and The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle as well as 1975’s breakthrough Born To Run. During the three years it took to release 1978’s Darkness on the Edge of Town, he left to form his jazz-rock fusion band Tone before performing with Peter Gabriel, Sting, Eric Clapton, Santana and Seal.
