They gon’ shine their everlovin’ light on you if you head on up to The Hoboken Social Club June 16 or the Old Franklin Schoolhouse in Metuchen two days later. Sounds abound on the debut of Jon Langford & The Bright Shiners. Langford, the former member of The Mekons and Sisters Of Mercy, claims this debut is Where It Really Starts (Tiny Global Productions). Its acoustic guitars are mixed with Mellotron, horns, looped percussion, violin and sumptuous vocal harmony. Will they be able to approximate it all on a stage? We’ll find out.
