Keyboardist-Singer-Songwriter Felix Cavaliere and Lead Guitarist Gene Cornish are keeping the Rascals flame burning bright 60 years on since their 1965 start in Garwood (Union County). (That’s Felix pictured on the left and Gene next to him.) The Newton Theatre on Spring Street, with its good acoustics, is a fine place to go and hear music. This band is in the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame, the Grammy Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the Songwriter Hall of Fame. Widely considered “blue-eyed soul,” their 17 Top 20 hits, seven Top 10s and three #1s, include “Groovin’,” “People Got To Be Free” and “Good Lovin’.”
