Thomas Dolby’s “Totally Tubular Festival” stops in A.C. at the Hard Rock Live July 19 with opening artists Tom Bailey of the Thompson Twins, Modern English, Men Without Hats, The Romantics, Bow Wow Wow, Tommy Tutone and The Plimsouls. Dolby, the British eccentric with all the electronica gear, who became part of the ‘80s New Wave explosion, incorporates funk, rap, rock, pop, dance and zydeco into his sound. He even covers George Clinton’s “Aliens Ate My Buick.” He’s been in one of David Bowie’s bands, produced Joni Mitchell, and just finished his second book, Prevailing Winds. He’s touring behind the re-release of his 1984 The Flat Earth album.
