Bookends in Ridgewood To Host Doors Drummer John Densmore November 8

the doors unhinged by John Densmore

The Bookends bookstore in Ridgewood will host the drummer of The Doors, John Densmore, 78, at 6:00 p.m. on November 8. His 2013 book—Doors Unhinged:  Jim Morrison’s Legacy Goes On Trial—will be re-released the day before the event. It is his third book. Riders On The Storm: My Life With Jim Morrison and The Doors came out in 1990. The Seekers:  Meetings With Remarkable Musicians came out in 2020.

Doors Unhinged, according to its publisher, Akashic Books, “offers a powerful exploration of the `greed gene,’ that part of the human psyche that propels us toward the accumulation of more and more wealth, even at the expense of our principles, friendships and the well-being of society….This is the gripping account of the legal battle to control The Doors’ artistic destiny. In it, Densmore looks at the conflict between his bandmates and him as they fought over the right to use The Doors’ name, revealing the ways in which this struggle mirrors and reflects a much larger societal issue: that no amount of money seems to be enough for even the wealthiest people.”
