FREE Hoboken Arts and Music Festival Set For May 18

Hoboken Arts Festival

Hoboken Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla has announced May 18 as the date for the annual free Hoboken Arts and Music Festival. In a prepared release, the Mayor stipulated “we are excited to welcome Brenda K. Starr, an internationally renowned artist, to headline this year’s festival and bring her incredible talent to the city. From live music to local artisans and great food, the Hoboken Spring Arts & Music Festival has something for everyone and highlights what makes Hoboken such a special place to live, work and visit. I encourage residents and vendors alike to come and experience this wonderful cultural celebration.”

The fest will take place on Washington Street from Observer Highway to Seventh Street. If it rains, it will be rescheduled for June 1. Last year, over 30,000 people enjoyed the festivities on the two stages, and at the kiosks of over 300 artists, makers, crafters and vendors.

Starr, 58, hit big in the late 1980s with such dance-pop hits as “I Still Believe,” “What You See Is What You Get” and “No Matter What.” Her second act came in the salsa music field where she has maintained a solid string of Spanish-Language Latin albums. The full fest lineup has yet to be released but for more information, you can visit hobokennj.gov/departments/cultural-affairs.
