Hailey Mia, 16, From Clifton, Is Going To Hollywood

Hailey Mia

She stood fearlessly on the American Idol stage and belted out a song by one of the judges—“Rise” by Katy Perry. Clifton resident Hailey Mia, 16, a student at Passaic County Technical Institute in Wayne, will continue on the show during its Hollywood phase. She told reporter Lucas Frau at www.northjersey.com that “I started singing as soon as I could speak. Music is and was my life when I was younger.” (She’s been receiving voice lessons since she was eight.) Two years ago, at 14, she made it to the finals on NBC-TV’s The Voice. Influenced by Olivia Rodrigo and Adele, she says, “I’m still trying to figure out who I am as an artist and as a person. With these next performances I want to show the world what I am capable of and also be myself and have fun, because this is what I love to do.”
