In Praise of Sinatra

The “American Voices” series of New York City’s Hunter College continues October 6 and 7 with the addition of “Frank Sinatra: From Band Singer to Icon” at The Kaye Playhouse. Previously, The on-campus Kaye has featured “Women In Jazz” and “Louis Armstrong: A Celebration of the Father of Jazz.”

The Sinatra event will star Ryan Keberle’s Big Band Living Legacy Project, a 15-piece ensemble  featuring pianist Adam Birnbaum, vocalist Hilary Kole (who co-created and co-starred in Our Sinatra, which ran for 1,300+ off-Broadway performances), Max von Essen of Broadway’s An American In Paris, and two Tony Award winners:  Matt Doyle (Company) and John Lloyd Young (Jersey Boys).

MIKE GREENBLATT has been writing for Goldmine magazine and New Jersey's Aquarian Weekly for more than 35 years. His writing subjects fill the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He's interviewed Joe Cocker, Graham Nash, David Crosby, Carlos Santana, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Johnny Cash, and members of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. He was 18 when he attended Woodstock in 1969.
