On January 20, Internet radio station blowupradio.com, which started in Old Bridge in Middlesex County, will broadcast a “Rock Against Hate” webathon all day where Jersey bands—and a few outside the state—will perform live online while raising funds and awareness for Kids In Need of Defense (KIND) and Planned Parenthood. Two digital compilations—30 songs each—will be offered to those who donate.

KIND assists unaccompanied minors fleeing catastrophe and violence in their country of origin who seek a safe haven here in the United States:  children who the incoming administration vows to detain and deport. Visit supportkind.org.

Planned Parenthood provides reproductive health care and education, ranging from abortion to cancer screenings. The incoming administration has made routine life-saving procedures for women illegal in several states, allowing many young women to die of easily preventable causes surrounding their pregnancies. Visit plannedparenthood.org.

A former WDHA DJ, Lazlo, started the station 24 years ago. “While my initial thought was to just curl up in a corner for the next four years,” he explains, “I want to put my festering anger/fear to good use. Thankfully so did a lot of musicians, otherwise this would not be possible.”

On January 20, just visit blowupradio.com and click the play button.
