Indie-Rockers Forever King Clark, out of Asbury Park, will release its Five Dollar Yacht Club EP next week. Band leader Bobby Kallok says, “after years wading through the Asbury Park music community, we really wanted to create a release centered around the idea of belonging in the scene and beyond. That’s why we decided to combine the concept of the exclusive yacht club with the low barrier of the five-dollar entry.”

Recorded in Freehold last winter, keyboardist Dan Baumgarten says of the project that, “we really wanted to strike a balance between not being too aggressive but not too chill with our blend of ‘60s surf-rock and modern indie.” It’s a well-worn aphorism that one should write about what one knows. To that end, the first single is “Sitting Out On The Patio.”

Kallok started Forever King Clark as a solo project when he was a Rowan University student during his Glassboro days in Gloucester County. Bassist Amy Evans and drummer John Michael Monroy made his original vision into a full-fledged band. Gigs in Brooklyn and Washington DC cemented their rep as a live attraction.
