Jason Didner Has An ‘Asbury Heart’

Montclair’s Jason Didner has always been known for his Jersey-centric music and sense of humor. From “You Can’t Get There From Here In Jersey” and “Deliver Me From Nowhere” to “People Against The Abuse Of Acronyms” and “Underwater Basket Weaving,” Didner has graced his rockin’ side with good vibes and his introspective side with worthy wisdom. Now comes Asbury Heart, a full-length that longtime Jersey reporter Jim Testa called “fast, fun and catchy.”

It's all within his worldview:  Punk, Soul, Reggae, Heartland Rock. Dig his cover below of “I Don’t Want To Go Home,” the 1976 Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes hit, this time by Jason Didner and the GSPs. (His band is named after the Garden State Parkway.) It’s a duet with Kevin McGowan and sounds so sweet and soulful, we’d love to hear Ziggy Marley cover it. Didner recently held his record release party in Asbury Park at Porta, which used to be known as The Student Prince. It’s where Clarence Clemons first jammed with a cat named Bruce.
