Jem’s New Gem: The Cynz

The Cynz Little Miss Lost

Holly & The Italians first did “Tell That Girl To Shut Up” in 1978. The Smithereens first did “Room Without A View” in 1989. Both songs are deliciously covered on Little Miss Lost, by The Cynz, from East Brunswick, recorded at The House Of Vibes in Highland Park and released on Jersey label Jem. Singer Cyndi Dawson and guitarist Henry Seiz wrote the other nine tunes and they’re infused with a propulsive punk energy, brought to stunning life by bassist Dave U. Hall and drummers Mike Wretched/Tommy Kristich. Smithereen Jim Babjek came in to provide an electrifying guitar solo plus “background bits” on “Room.” The Cynz will be celebrating the release of the debut April 12 at The Parkside Lounge in New York City with Drew Eckmann opening.
