Jersey City Becomes An Art Colony This Weekend

Naji Soul Peters

Naji Soul Peters will perform at 4:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

For the first four days of October, Jersey City is an art colony when the 37th Annual Jersey City Art & Studio Tour (JCAST) returns. The celebration will include artists, galleries, live music, exhibitions, murals, tours and “cultural experiences across all six wards of Jersey City,” according to the town itself. The theme this year is “Unbounded Nature.”

Mayor James Soloman: “Jersey City’s arts community is one of the great strengths of our city and JCAST is a wonderful example of what happens when artists, residents, businesses and government come together.”

JCAST Producer Atim Anette Oton says the event is an invitation to experience Jersey City differently. “For four days,” she says, “the city becomes a living canvas, with artists opening their studios, exhibitions filling cultural spaces, murals transforming our streets, and tours taking visitors into neighborhoods across all six wards.”
