Kevin Hill To Honor David Bowie

Kevin Hill and Friends

Multi-Talented Kevin Hill from Brick (Ocean County) will perform January 20 at the iconic Stone Pony in Asbury Park in a show promoted as “Kevin Hill & Friends.” It’s an all-day show as part of the Light Of Day event benefitting the fight against ALS starting at 2:00 p.m. with Kevin on at 9:00 p.m.

With his band Secret Sound, one week later on Jan. 27, at the Highline Arena in Aberdeen (Monmouth County), he will perform an all-Bowie show. Hill should nail the late legend’s tunes as he can go from a whisper to a scream in seconds. His is a jammy THC-friendly mélange of Jazz-Rock Fusion, Hard Americana, Classic Rock, Alt-Rock, Blues-Rock, you name it. A soulful vocalist, nimble guitarist, sensitive lyricist and ballsy performer, he was tutored in the six-string arts by Ted Dunbar (who also instructed Trey Anastasio and Vernon Reid). Inspired by the old-school jazz-organ groups of Newark back in the day as filtered through a Grateful Dead blender, Hill defies categorization and is a master of Spontaneous Composition, fiery musical inventions made up on the spot. It should be noted that he’s also an advocate for mental health and substance abuse awareness.

You can also catch him January 13 at the 10th Avenue Burrito Company in Belmar and January 15 in an open jam at Pig & Parrot in Brielle.
