Longtime Hoboken Busker Records an Album

Gregory McLoughlin

Guess he was tired of singing in the street for chump change. Sometimes he’d sing to an audience of one, going up to strangers with a question: “can I sing you a song?” He’d play a bass, kick a drum, shake a foot tambourine, and sing his “Life In Jersey” tune. His venues were parking lots, sidewalks and campsites. But now singer-songwriter Gregory McLoughlin has made an album. His self-titled debut comes out December 12. The day after that he’ll perform at Garcia’s within The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. The lead single is “Businessman” and he even filmed a video inspired by the 1968 muckraking David McCullough book about the 1889 quite-preventable Johnstown Flood in Pennsylvania that killed over 2,209 people. As he says, “I work hard and roll the dice.”
