Montclair State University Announces ‘Peak Performances’

"White Space"

The new season of “Peak Performances” at Montclair State commences September 17 with the dance troupe known as A.I.M. by Kyle Abraham. “White Space,” according to the University, “grounds its cast of 11 captivating dancers in a restless and thought-provoking world fueled by a vast movement vocabulary consisting of Abraham’s signature blend of classical and contemporary dance with a hip-hop underbelly. The score [by Jason Moran and Nico Muhly]  is performed live by two pianists on one piano, with echoes of pre-recorded hip-hop driving the collision of reality and idealism.”

Besides music, this year’s emphasis will also key in on dance and cinema. The schedule is below. The events will take place at the University’s Alexander Kasser Theater. The three 1976 films will be screened at Presentation Hall.
