Rachel Zegler Wins People’s Choice Award as ‘Action Movie Star of the Year’

Rachel Zegler

When she was 16, Rachel Zegler was handpicked by Director Steven Spielberg out of 30,000 applicants around the world in an open casting-call to play the part of Maria in his 2021 West Side Story update. The Hackensack-born, Clifton-raised singer has since starred as Athena in Shazam! Fury Of The Gods and as Lucy Gray Baird in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds. The future is wide open for this Jersey Girl who can sing like an angel and, apparently, can act with the best of ‘em. In the only awards show in which the fans get to vote, she beat heavy favorites like Keanu Reeves, Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot.
