Reece Young Walks On ‘broken glass’

Reece Young

Last year, Reece Young told everyone he was Here, in South Plainfield, where he grew up. The EP showed potential. That potential has been realized with the release of “broken glass” via UNFD (an Australian indie label specializing in the hard and the heavy). It’s a tsunami of sound that grabs the ear like a rabid rodent and just won’t let go. Featuring Albany hardcore band Downswing, once you hear it, you can’t unhear it. And who would want to? It’s a perfect outlet for the rage within us all.

When asked about it, Young, now based in Tennessee, says, “the entire theme of this upcoming batch of songs encompasses my personal struggle with constant comparison. In today's social media-centered society, it is impossible to not compare yourself to others. I'm often sitting there wondering, 'Why them?' when I see someone thriving at something I'm trying to achieve myself. 'broken glass' is my message to those at the top."
