Second Annual American Music Honorees Announced

Dion, John Mellencamp, Jackson Browne and Mavis Staples will be feted April 24 by the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music in the Pollak Theatre on the campus of Monmouth University in West Long Branch. Founding Executive Director Bob Santelli said, “[we are] proud to honor these musically, culturally and politically important artists. All four artists have contributed mightily to the American music canon and have demonstrated how the power of song can act as an agent for positive change in our country.” Stevie Van Zandt’s Disciples of Soul will be the house band. Award presenters include Bruce Springsteen, Van Zandt, Darlene Love and Jon Landau.

Monmouth University President Patrick Leahy said, “[we’re] proud to host this year’s American Music Honors and to welcome to our campus John Mellencamp, Jackson Browne, Dion and Mavis Staples. These artists represent the best qualities of American music and together demonstrate why [music] is one of our most precious cultural resources.”
