SiriusXM Radio Host Eddie Trunk To Host ‘Rock For Ronnie’ Cancer Benefit

Rock for Ronnie

On May 19, the 2024 “Rock For Ronnie: Year of the Dragon” Concert Celebration will honor legendary metal icon Ronnie James Dio and benefit The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up & Shout Cancer Fund. Dio—the captivating lead singer for Elf, Rainbow, Heaven & Hell and Black Sabbath—lost his battle against gastric cancer in 2010 at the age of 67. The seven-hour event will be hosted by SiriusXM Radio host Eddie Trunk from Madison in Morris County. Trunk was the first disc jockey in America to play a demo from the unknown Metallica upon Megaforce Records founder Jonny Z slipping him the tape and demanding he play it while he was on air. He tells the story in the upcoming documentary The Jersey Sound.

The event will be held at the Lou Bredlow Pavilion at Warner Center Park in Woodland Hills California with Quiet Riot headlining. The Dio Disciples, Jason Charles Miller and Billy McNicol will open. There will also be a jam session with Eddie Trunk’s All-Star Band that includes, among many others, Lita Ford, Tracii Guns, Robert Sarzo and members of Whitesnake, Keel, Vixen, Daughtry, Montrose, Brand X, Alice Cooper and Toto. Longtime metal patron/fan/publicist Maria Ferrero of Adrenaline PR is involved. She also appears in The Jersey Sound documentary.
