Eddie Skuller To Bring His Tom Waits Show To Hoboken May 16
No one does Tom Waits like Eddie Skuller. Skuller, the Jersey City chameleon, has already transcended the Waits essence with his spot-on rendition of “Chocolate Jesus” and turned the Willie Dixon blues classic “Spoonful” into a reggae. Now he plans to sing the ballads of Tom Waits at the 503 Social Club on Third Street in Hoboken on May 16.
Eddie Skuller Loves His ‘Chocolate Jesus’
“Chocolate Jesus,” the 1999 Tom Waits gem, has been given a new life by Eddie Skuller of Jersey City. We previously reported on how he turned the Chicago blues of Willie Dixon’s “Spoonful” into a reggae (3/25/25). A ‘Spoonful’ of Jersey City Reggae
Willie Dixon wrote “Spoonful” for Howlin’ Wolf in 1960. He borrowed the song from Charley Patton’s 1929 “A Spoonful Of Blues” who borrowed it Papa Charlie Jackson’s 1925 “All I Want Is A Spoonful.” Eddie Skuller, from Jersey City, has now turned it into a reggae.
