Texas singer Abbey Cone Releases New Single, ‘I Hate Springsteen’

Fans who got there early when Orville Peck played The Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park recently got to see country-pop singer Abbey Cone—a Texan now residing in Tennessee—sing her new single, “I Hate Springsteen.” Gal got balls to sing a song with that title down the shore! (She also does a mean version of “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” the 1980 George Jones hit.) On September 19, she’ll open for Kimberly Perry at The Gramercy Theatre in New York City for a taping of Country Music Television’s annual “Women Of Country” show.

Spoiler Alert:  She really doesn’t hate Bruce. The song goes, “I love being alone/I hate Springsteen/Texas ain’t home/Grass ain’t green/Yeah, if that’s true we’re still 22 and I don’t miss you.”
