The MEGA OKs Celebrate Christmas

MEGA OKs

"I finished writing “Christmas In Songtown” after I returned from a trip to Ireland this fall. I saw buskers on the streets. I saw musicians in the pubs sharing their joy of music from Kelly's in Belfast and Temple Bar in Dublin. They were universally playing practically the same covers you'd hear at the Jersey shore bars, so I figured I'd give us all a challenge in song to write a better one than this.”

Those are the words David Urbano wrote to us when he explained how the tune below was written and produced “entirely in an analog fashion with no AI. “Go ahead! Write a better Christmas song.”

Urbano is a singer-songwriter-guitarist-bassist-producer from New Brunswick who, along with bandmates Jay and Ron Santee, rock as The MEGA OKs. They recorded the song at Rob’s Desert Dog Pine Barren studio along with “This Is Our Planet Too,” which Urbano describes as “a ballad for everybody to just hug it out and get along already on our spaceship Earth.” You can catch Urbano in his solo gig at the monthly “Nashbury Singer Songwriters In The Round” on January 28 at the Asbury Book Co-Op on Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park.
