The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Goes Hollywood

how to train your dragon in concert

The three performances of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra should prove fun as conductor Lawrence Loh will have to sync up the orchestra live in-concert as the Hollywood film How To Train Your Dragon explodes on the big screen behind them. Thus, the epic adventure film’s humor and fire-breathing action will be brought to stunning life. The event will debut July 11 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, then repeat the next night, July 12, at the State Theatre in New Brunswick. The final performance will be staged July 13 after the WQXR Classical Kids Fair at the NJPAC in Newark (all at 7:00 p.m.) For further information about the dragon event, visit https://www.njsymphony.org/events/detail/how-to-train-your-dragon-in-concert.

The fair itself is a first-time one-of-a-kind event with inter-active story-telling about musical icons, and Arts & Crafts where kids get to decorate egg-shaker maracas led by local Girl Scouts. Live performances will be by Keys 2 Success and Nimbus Dance. Kids will also create their own batons and “learn to conduct different patterns to explore sound, pitch and resonance of everyday objects,” according to NJPAC. Expect a Drum Circle, a beat-making workshop, an Instrument Discovery Zone, a Classical Cupcake Carriage, a photo station and a Chinese Dragon Dance.
