The Sensational Soul Cruisers Go ‘Deeper and Deeper’ On Debut Single After 31 Years

Sensational Soul Cruisers

After performing on New Jersey stages since 1994, The Sensational Soul Cruisers have released their debut original single, “Deeper and Deeper,” on R’n’B label Banner Records out of Union County. Banner CEO John Anthony was the business partner of the legendary Sid Bernstein [1918-2013], the man who brought The Beatles to America. Sax man “Screamin’” Steve Barlotta, from Ocean County, leads a 11-man carnival-of-sound which includes four vocalists led by lead singer Gabriel Morris, trumpet, trombone, keyboards, drums, guitar and bass. Put ‘em all together and they’ve been wowing audiences for 31 years—opening for Bruce, Little Anthony, Gloria Gaynor, Gary “U.S.” Bonds, Beaver Brown, the Asbury Jukes, Bon Jovi, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder and as the house band at The Copacabana in New York City—ever since their humble beginnings where they’d rehearse at the chicken coops on Route #33 and the basement of the Cycle Shop on Throckmorton Street in Freehold. They have played 200 dates a year ever since, be it theaters, clubs, festivals and private parties, and will be touring up and down the East Coast later this year.
