Morris County First Night
Morris County, for the last 32 years, has turned Morristown into one big stage. Hailing it as “an alcohol-free and substance-free celebration of arts and culture,” there will be 80+ performances, a film festival and, of course, the midnight downtown countdown. Over 10,000 showed up last year making it the biggest “First Night” in the state. Among the artists will be the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, Bossa Brazil, Christina Piedra (dance), Dolce Trio (18th Century Colonial America/20th Century Euro classical/Scottish-Irish folk), singer Eric DeLauro (Rat Pack classics), Harmonium Choral Society, and singer Mark Milovat (Great American Songbook/Holiday Favorites). Ocean City First Night
From 4:00 p.m. to after midnight, the town that has not allowed alcohol within its city limits since 1879 will host its dry celebration. There’s a Harlem Wizards basketball exhibition, country line-dancing, disco dancing, reptiles on display, magicians, jugglers, ice skating, karaoke, an indoor carnival, game shows, “Lego At The Library” and musical theater (“Frozen,” “Mickey Mouseketeer,” “Pete The Cat”).
