Young Cresskill Shredder Records Album With Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater
Steve Dadaian and Jordan Rudess
He calls it “modern progressive metal.” When guitarist Steve Dadaian graduated from Cresskill High School in Bergen County, he was immersed in classical music. His new album, Revenant City, drops May 9, but one track, “Garden Of Stars,” with Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess, can be digested below.
Steve says, “`Garden Of Stars’ was one of the last songs I finished working on for Revenant City and when I presented it to Jordan, he added elements that not only completed but elevated the song…with heavy riffs, melodic leads and orchestral arrangements. It opens with a unison lead between both of us to set the stage and even in sections where the keyboard leads aren’t apparent, Jordan arranged ambient textures to follow the chord changes. The collaboration was very natural and casual as we were working on ideas in his studio and it turned out to be one of my favorite tracks on the album.”
Jordan says, “I’ve had the pleasure to work with Steve on a number of songs, both on my own album and his upcoming release. Not only is his guitar playing off the charts, his songwriting and musicianship is also next level which I really value and sets him apart. We had a lot of fun with this one; the leads are energetic and add a whole different dimension I think listeners will love. I’m looking forward to everyone hearing it as well as all our future collaborations together.”
Revenant City is the follow-up to Steve’s 2019 Follow The Light debut. He can also be heard on Jordan’s Permission To Fly album. Drummer Marco Minnemann and bassist Redvard Dolanski round out the quartet. Ex-Megadeth guitarist Kiko Loureiro served as Musical Director.
