Zaki Ali Band Takes the Prog Path

Zaki Ali

Zaki Ali is smart. Y’know how oftentimes a band can be tight, edgy, exciting and provocative…then the singer opens his mouth and the whole thing turns to shit? The Great Path of Reconstruction, by the Zaki Ali Band of Hudson County, is an original instrumental progressive metal piece written, recorded and mixed by Ali. But let’s let him tell it.

Ali: “The Great Path of Reconstruction symbolizes a journey of ridding toxicity from one's surroundings in order to position themselves for success. The video metaphorically and subliminally displays chaos in reverse order as things return to their original state. The idea behind the video was really to capture the beauty in the scenery and since each riff in the song changes keys, have a different color grade essentially represent the melodic feeling of what is happening musically."

In the studio, Ali produced, mastered and engineered his own lead guitar, bass guitar and drums. For the sake of the video, drummer Greg Telfeian and bassist Davor were filmed and edited by Trystan Cruise. “The music that’s been released [under the banner of] The Zaki Ali Band is a true culmination of so many years of hard work and dedication directly extracted from the experience around the New Jersey metal scene,” explains Ali, “but on every instrument, and with the production we wished we had at the time.”

The Zaki Ali Band will rock hard in Sayreville at Starlight Ballroom this Saturday the 11th, then in Altoona PA at Inkwell next month on the 29th and bring his year to a resounding close December 27 in Brooklyn at Lucky 13.
