Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band
“Devil With The Blue Dress On”

Whenever anybody happens to tell me that they don’t love Bruce, I always ask them if they’ve seen him live, and, invariably, they’ll say no. See him once and you’re a fan for life.

Queen Latifah
“When You’re Good To Mama”

This Newark prodigy—born Dana Elaine Owens in 1970—went on to superstardom by her incredible range of artistry from brilliantly portraying blues singer Bessie Smith to her various Hollywood movies and television shows. She’s won a Grammy, an Emmy, a Golden Globe, three Screen Actors Guild awards, two NAACP Image Awards, and was the first female rapper to go gold.  This clip is from the movie Chicago where she portrayed Matron “Mama” Morton at a women’s prison.

Les Paul and Mary Ford
“How High The Moon”

Les Paul lived in Mahwah in Bergen County for many years. Talk about a Guitar Hero! Check out his licks in 1951 with wife Mary Ford. Les was brilliant:  a lead guitarist like no other, an inventor, producer, arranger, philanthropist and, on into his later years, those who saw him perform at his weekly Manhattan jams consider themselves lucky to this day. Rock stars like Slash, Richie Sambora and The Edge have all sung his praises. Born in 1915 Wisconsin, he died at age 94 in 2009.

Stone Temple Pilots
“Plush”

In honor of STP bassist Robert De Leo, from Point Pleasant in Ocean County, being part of The Jersey Sound this month, we look back at this rockin’ clip.
