Jalisa Rey
“True Colors”

Reaction to Jalisa Rey’s “It Ain’t Fair” video was so good, here’s her other burning-hot clip. She’s been making a name for herself in Los Angeles of late since leaving her native Paterson.

Groovy

We introduced you to Groovy, the provocative Union youngster, in February, when he released his absolutely delicious “jersey luv” single. He’s followed it up now with “Bad Gurl.” This kid just keeps on getting better and better!

The Gumbo Gumbas
“Zydeland”

We love how those Gumbo Gumbas bring New Orleans to Mercer County. Joe Grillo and his crew, ever since their 2020 Back To NOLA debut, have been combining zydeco-styled Louisiana wildness with an Asbury Juke-styled horn section. You can see for yourself June 30 at Crossing Vineyards in Newtown PA, the Sourland Mountain Festival in their Ewing Township hometown, and on the beach in Long Branch August 13.

Donald Fagen
“New Frontier”

Paterson superstar Donald Fagen has been a favorite of ours for decades in Steely Dan, combining Jack Kerouac with Ray Charles. He stepped away from the mothership for this 1982 single from his solo album, The Nightfly.

Mike Greenblatt

MIKE GREENBLATT has been writing for Goldmine magazine and New Jersey's Aquarian Weekly for more than 35 years. His writing subjects fill the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He's interviewed Joe Cocker, Graham Nash, David Crosby, Carlos Santana, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Johnny Cash, and members of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. He was 18 when he attended Woodstock in 1969.

In addition to writing about music, Greenblatt has worked on publicity campaigns for The Animals, Pat Benatar, Johnny Winter, Tommy James and Richard Branson, among others. He is currently the editor of The Jersey Sound.
