North Carolina’s Steep Canyon Rangers will change bluegrass to newgrass and jazzgrass when they open for Steve Martin and Martin Short at Hard Rock Live’s Etess Arena in Atlantic City May 18. The acclaimed sextet will perform selections from their new Live At Greenfield Lake (Yep Roc Records) not due until August 30. Fourteen albums into their career, they’ve made three more albums with comedian Steve Martin who, if you didn’t know by now, plays a mean banjo.
