Meet… George Becker

George Becker

Singer-Songwriter George Becker grew up in Rahway listening mostly to rock’n’roll but soon discovered he had a passion for real dirt-road country music. Three decades later, he’s still at it, recording and touring. Although his band (Pete Fry, Leo Sabatino, Jimmy Ryan and Pete Giordano) certainly owes more to country-rock than barroom country weepers, his acoustic solo side shows his devotion to pure country. When he fronts that rampaging band of his, you gotta throw in some died-in-the-wool classic Southern Rock plus influences like Eric Church, Luke Combs and the country side of the Rolling Stones. Becker will perform as an acoustic solo at Black River Farms in Bethlehem Pennsylvania twice, once this Sunday April 14 and also July 21. June 2 he’ll also be solo at the Old York Winery in Ringoes (Hunterdon County). His full band will be with him at Artie’s in Frenchtown April 27 with Julia Cole opening and then again June 15 at Artie’s providing support for Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Artimus Pyle. (That should be a terrific pairing.)
