Meet… N’Kenge

N-kenge

Jersey City chanteuse N’Kenge just might give you a “Goosebump Moment” with her funky new worldbeat single. The multi-genre vocalist has sung pop, jazz, soul and opera—besides appearing on Broadway—in five octaves and 11 languages over 20 years. She says the new single “was inspired by Oprah Winfrey. She used to always reference a ‘goosebump moment.’ It’s also about my life as a singer, where I’ve had the blessed opportunity to travel around the world, learning different cultures and languages, as well as being about having many suitors, but finally finding the one and only.”

N’Kenge has been nominated for Tony, Grammy and Emmy awards. She’s appeared with symphony orchestras, and with jazz legends like Ornette Coleman and Wynton Marsalis. She is currently in the process of developing two properties:  a musical in tribute to actress/singer/dancer Dorothy Dandridge [1922-1965] and a TV dramedy, Black Butterfly.
