Asbury Park’s Yawn Mower has been at it for over a decade. Bob Makin, at The Aquarian, called them “great, fuzzed-out, doomy, surf-pop.” Upon signing to North Jersey indie Mint 400, they released numerous singles and EPs, with the full-length debut, To Each Their Own, in 2022, and this year’s model, I Just Can’t Wait To Die, as the follow-up. Makin even cited them as his “Makin Waves Band of the Year.”

Yawn Mower went over well at the 2023 Sea. Hear. Now. shore festival. The band is influenced as much by filmmaker Wes Anderson as it is by Pavement and Dinosaur Jr. Guitarists Mike Chick/Rudy Meier, drummer Biff Swenson, fiddler Nicole Scoresone and bassist Dana Yurcisin have honed their sound into a finely-etched sculpture of modernism. You can check ‘em out later this month at Wonder Bar in Asbury on the 27th.
