40 Years On, Hoboken Band Antietam Still Has A Lot To Say

They came out of Kentucky to settle in New Jersey 42 years ago. Guitarist Tara Key and bassist Tim Harris started Antietam shortly after they got married at Hoboken City Hall. Add bassist Wolf Knapp and drummer Mike Weinhart and the original lineup was set. Maxwell’s was the scene of their entrance on that fateful night of a double-bill in 1984 with another new band, Yo La Tengo. The self-titled debut came out a year later and they were off and running, sharing rehearsal space with The Cucumbers. Nine albums later, their new EP, The Counting Game (Dromedary Records) isn’t ready yet but “Way Too Well” certainly is (see below). It’s the follow-up to their 2024 Pitch & Yaw EP. Now down to a trio, they’re still as opinionated as ever.
