The Debut Of Young Rell

Young Rell

He’s the teenaged blues phenom from Mississippi that The Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation honored last year by giving him an “Emerging Artist” scholarship. His name is Harrell Davenport. He records and tours as Young Rell and his debut is startling for someone so young. Kid has an old soul, as they say. He wrote 10 of 12, plays guitar and harmonica, and sings like any self-respecting Delta Blues artist should…with soul, grit, fire and passion. Listen below to his scintillating cover of Bob Dylan’s most vehement protest song, 1963’s “Masters Of War.”
