On January 18, The Count Basie Center for the Arts on Monmouth Street in Red Bank will host the 25th annual Light of Day concert to benefit the fight against Parkinson’s Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem), John Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls), Brian Baker (Bad Religion), Pete Steinkopf (The Bouncing Souls), Dramarama, Willie Nile and Joe Grushecky & The Houserockers are the first—but not the last—confirmed artists. The other shows are Tusk (performing the hits of Fleetwood Mac), on January 24, also at the Basie Center. Artists have yet to be announced for further shows between January 16 and 19 at three Asbury Park venues (The Stone Pony, Wonder Bar and McLoone’s Supper Club), plus Outpost in the Burbs in Montclair and City Winery in New York City. The Light Of Day Foundation has raised over six million dollars, according to its founder Bob Benjamin, with shows in England, Wales, Ireland, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Spain.
