Asbury Park Band Says ‘You’re Not There’
Forever King Clark’s You’re Not There came out last Friday. It continues the upward spiral of last year’s Five Dollar Yacht Club. The new EP covers some interesting topics, mainly ghosts, fast-food jobs and crippling social anxiety. Singer-Guitarist Bobby Kallok reached out to say, “we wanted to create a release that was like discovering a lost cassette from a past that never existed.”
The difference is that instead of their usual surf rock pastiche, they’ve morphed into groovier and more experimental 1980s-styled keyboard and drum machine territory. Recorded in Freehold at DIMM Studios, “So Afraid To Fall In Love” is the first single. Gigs at Wonder Bar in their Asbury hometown and a release-party at Harry’s Records in Belmar are a warm-up for an extended tour.
