Blues Traveler Hits The Road With Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors
Blues Traveler by Graham Fielder
Blues Traveler has traveled a long way since they started in the basement of their drummer’s house in Princeton 39 years ago. John Popper, Chandler Kinchia, Brendan Hill and Bobby Sheehan [1968-1999] were only jamming at the time. Little did they know their fun would take them around the world, playing over 2,000 concerts in front of over 30 million fans, record 14 albums, sell over 10 million and win a Grammy.
Now, as they prepare for a major tour with Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors—kicking off Wednesday in Colorado through November 15 in Mississippi (stopping in Atlantic City on July 19 at the Ocean Casino Resort)—Popper pops off with “getting to play with dear old friends like Gin Blossoms and the Spin Doctors is one of the great benefits of a touring career that spans almost four decades now. These are exceptional players and performers, and they push us to play even harder. Everybody digs in to make each other better. We are looking forward to a great year of music.” To which Kinchia adds, “We can’t wait! It’s going to be great fun, lots of hits, lots of jamming, and I’m sure plenty of cross-pollinating.”
