New Bruce Concert CD!

There’s just something magic about seeing Bruce in Jersey, like seeing The Beatles in Liverpool, Grateful Dead in San Francisco, Trombone Shorty in New Orleans or The Ramones in New York City.

One of Bruce’s best Meadowlands shows on Route #3 in East Rutherford came in 1999 when he and his E Street Band tore the roof off the place July 18. The venue was called The Continental Airlines Arena at that time. It was Night #2 of a 15-night run. Something of a reunion for the band. In his closing comments before final song “Land Of Hope And Dreams,” Bruce told the crowd that it was “the rebirth and the re-dedication of our band.”

See the setlist below. Note what he starts the first encore with. It’s a rare tune he hardly ever plays that goes, “I was born right here on Randolph Street in Freehold/Here right behind that big red maple in Freehold/Well, I went to school right here/Got laid and had my first beer/In Freehold/Well, my folks always lived and worked right here in Freehold.” Bruce unveiled the song in 1996 at, yes, a benefit concert staged at the school he once attended. When he did it in ’99, he said it was “kind of a combination of my thank-you and revenge” to that school.
