Asbury Park’s Fury Of Five return with new song “WxAxRx”

Asbury Park’s Fury Of Five are not dead yet. The hardcore-metal shore gang was born ’94, released its “Convicted And Condemned” debut 7-inch that year before two more singles, two ’95 demos and three full-lengths in ’96, ’98 and 2000.  Also heard on two compilations (“Jersey Style” in ’07 and “Fast Break!” in ’14, they’ve been otherwise mute for two decades.

When word came via the No Echo website that they were gearing up for a February 2023 release for “Half Past Revenge,” fans of the more groove-oriented side of hardcore metal had to smile. As a tease, one song—“WxAxRx”—is out today. Singer James Ismean explains: “W.A.R. is an acronym for 'We Are Ready'—meaning we will die for what we love and we’re ready to do whatever we have to do to protect it. It has nothing to do with being a tough guy, but everything to do with being strong in your convictions and standing up to anyone who threatens your morals and integrity."
