Eddie Trunk Hosts Event Raising $70,000+ for Cancer Research
The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund got a sweet 70G payday when SiriusXM 103 Faction Talk DJ Eddie Trunk—born in Madison and featured in The Jersey Sound documentary—hosted the annual “Bowl For Ronnie” celebrity bowl-a-thon November 14 at the PINZ Bowling Center in Studio City California. The event sold out way in advance. Participating rockers included Orianthi, Ripper Owens, Robert and Rudy Sarzo, Tom Morello, Richie Kotzen, Sean McNabb (Dokken/Quiet Riot), Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper/Motley Crue), Vinny Appice (Dio/Black Sabbath), Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses), Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns) and members of Warrant, Bullet Boys, Dio Disciples, Fuel, Cinderella, Biohazard, Faster Pussycat, Vixen, Foreigner, Daughtry, System Of A Down, The Stray Cats, Anthrax, Megadeth and many more.
The legendary Dio lost his life to gastric cancer in 2010. Over two million dollars have been raised since this event’s inception for the TJ Martell Foundation, the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston (where Dio stayed the last six months of his life) and Dr. David Wong of UCLA whose work has been in developing non-invasive saliva tests for early detection.
