Hoboken St. Ann Italian Festival Set For July 24-28

Hoboken Fest

This year’s Hoboken St. Ann Festival—also known as The Feast—will take place next week from Wednesday to Sunday, the 24th to the 28th of July. The Hoboken Historical Museum will present a 16-photo pictorial of the event called “On The Steps of St. Ann’s: A Collection of Photographs from The Feast 2001-2022 by Bob Delavante” that will run from Sunday of this weekend to August 25.

The Rutherford photographer’s band, The Delavantes, which Bob and his brother Mike formed in 1988 Hoboken, had in its ranks, at various times, E Streeter Garry Tallent and Heartbreaker Benmont Tench. Rolling Stone magazine called their sound “a broad view of the American musical crossroad where country and rock meet and, in this case, become one.”  (Tallent produced their 2021 A Thousand Turns album.)

According to Bob Delevante from a press release, “The beer garden in the courtyard behind the church and streets surrounding St. Ann’s never seem to change. There are always some new faces but many of the old regulars as well. The sausage and pepper sandwiches, cold beer and zeppoles never seem to change either…and that’s why I love going back there [he lives in Tennessee now]. Hoboken will always be the same little town I left many years ago, at least for that week in July.”
