Palmyra Delran Doesn’t Mind Her Music Being Called ‘Trash Pop’

Palmyra

Stevie Van Zandt’s Wicked Cool Records label is re-releasing the 2013 12-track You Are What You Absorb debut of “Trash Pop Maven” Palmyra Delran on “Turtle Green” vinyl. Guitar World magazine called it “an intoxicating blend of punk-girl grit combined with hook-laden melodies and deep lyrics. The single, ‘You’re My Brian Jones,’ is a psychedelic romp back to the ‘60s with an infectious groove and smooth vocals.” Van Zandt picked it as “The Coolest Song of 2012.”

Delran is a ballsy rock’n’roll singer-songwriter-guitarist-producer born in Princeton. After leading The Friggs and Pink Slip Daddy, she went solo, and also recorded with The Coolies. Van Zandt knew all about her from as far back as 2008 when he also designated her “Baby Should Have Known Better” as “The Coolest Song…” of that year. She now hosts “Trash Pop Shindig” on Little Steven’s Underground Garage channel on SiriusXM Mondays and Tuesdays in the late afternoon from 4:00 to 7:00, and Wednesday/Thursday from 8:00 to midnight. On the weekend, you can hear her Saturdays from 8:00 to 11:00 in the morning and Sundays from noon to 3:00 (SiriusXM 21) where she gets “to unleash the geek and not just bore my friends with music facts.”
