Jack Hoban is ‘Boardwalking’

Jack Hoban

Longtime Monmouth County singer-songwriter-guitarist Jack Hoban reached out to us recently to send us “Boardwalking,” a song about one of his favorite pastimes.

"Aloha! I live in Sea Girt, but I'm in Hawaii right now recording my next album. There's a lot of beach music in my catalogue. Please listen and I hope it keeps you warm during this cold winter!"—Jack Hoban

“Boardwalking” is off his 2021 Blue Beach album. As an active participant of the Jersey Shore music scene, he’s performed his enticing mix of ocean-themed roots-, yacht-, blues-, folk- and country-rock for years.

Debut Bellamar started the ride 20 years ago. He felt the call of the waves and wanted to extend those vacation vibes year-round. Jersey Blue came next, and with legendary drummer Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, it just had to veer towards soul, funk and jazz. Add some blues to that mix and you’ve got his Jack Hoban & Rogues on the Run 1996-2015 retrospective.  Rogues opened for BB King and early on, with band Windfall, he opened for Kiss. He also wrote, played guitar and co-produced Purdie’s Testify album.
