Kool & The Gang March On With New Album & New Memoir

kool and the gang

It’s amazing to think that Kool & The Gang started in Jersey City 59 years ago as The Jazziacs. The two co-founding members—bassist Robert “Kool” Bell and drummer/ keyboardist George “Funky” Brown—are still at it with some new young lions in the band. (The street Bell and Brown grew up on in Jersey City is now named Kool & The Gang Way.) The new album is People Just Want To Have Fun. The first single is “Let’s Party.” Funky Brown has also written a tell-all memoir, Too Hot:  Kool & The Gang & Me. He recently told Warren Kurtz at www.goldminemag.com, “this is the first time on any Kool & The Gang record that you hear a female singing lead vocals…It is growth for us as a group and helps to keep us multi-generational”
