‘Nebraska’ Box Set For October 17 Release

On October 17, one week before the Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere feature film hits theaters Oct. 24, Sony Music will release Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition with previously unreleased material, including a full-length Blu-Ray concert, and a raw stripped-down “Born In The USA” from the Electric Nebraska sessions. As Bruce says, “we threw out the keyboards and played basically as a three-piece. It was kinda like punk rockabilly. We were trying to bring ‘Nebraska’ into the electric world."

The box also has a newly-filmed concert of Nebraska in its entirety on Blu-Ray from the Count Basie Performing Arts Center in Red Bank, notable for the fact that Bruce never toured in support of the album. Forty-plus years on, Bruce says, "I think in playing these songs again to be filmed, their weight impressed upon me. I’ve written a lot of other narrative records, but there's just something about that batch of songs on ‘Nebraska’ that holds some sort of magic."
