New Jersey Hall of Fame Celebrates Thomas Edison

Thomas Edison celebrates his 80th birthday with his wife

Music fans would still be buying sheet music (maybe not such a bad idea) instead of albums if it weren’t for inventor Thomas Edison [1847-1931] who invented the record player. Nobody would be going to the movies because he invented the motion picture camera too. And dare I say we might still be traipsing around in the dark because he invented the electric lightbulb too. All from his laboratory in Menlo Park. So from movies to music to being able to read, it all originates in Jersey. Everything.

Enter Extreme Edison, a celebration at the New Jersey Hall of Fame starting tonight on Edison’s 178th birthday and lasting a week filled with interactive exhibits, educational discussions and hands-on activities
