Patti Smith Carnegie Hall Tribute Set For March 26

On March 26, 2025, Carnegie Hall will host “People Have The Power:  A Celebration of Patti Smith” with 20 artists yet to be named. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit various music education programs in the tri-state area. Tickets will go on sale October 22 at the Carnegie Hall website. Patti Smith was born Patricia Lee Smith in 1946 Chicago, and raised in Deptford Township (Gloucester County) where she graduated high school. In 1975, her Horses album made her a star. She was inducted into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. In 2010, she won The National Book Award for her Just Kids memoir.  A painter, actress, author, singer, songwriter, poet, playwright, rock critic and activist, she’s recorded 11 albums and has written or contributed to 27 books. Her biggest hit, 1978’s “Because The Night,” was written by Bruce Springsteen.

He's interviewed Joe Cocker, Graham Nash, David Crosby, Carlos Santana, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Johnny Cash, and members of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. He was 18 when he attended Woodstock in 1969.

In addition to writing about music, Greenblatt has worked on publicity campaigns for The Animals, Pat Benatar, Johnny Winter, Tommy James and Richard Branson, among others. He is currently the editor of The Jersey Sound.
