Patti Smith Will Be Part of The Dodge Poetry Festival in Newark
North America’s largest poetry festival returns to Newark October 15, 16 and 17 across seven stages throughout the downtown area, as presented by The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC). Events include Patti Smith’s “Songs & Stories;” a reunion of HBO’s original Def Poetry Jam; readings from organizations that promote Black, Asian and Latin poets; “Young Artist Day” with thousands of high school students from across the country; a “Fine-Tune Your Craft” workshop with the Academy of American Poets; An Open-Mic night; and a FREE “Family Fun Day” with drumming and dancing. From NJPAC’s promotional materials: “discover new voices, speak your mind, call for change and mix rhyme with rhythm.” For more information, visit https://www.njpac.org/series/dodgepoetry/.
